Welcome to the Forms Most Beautiful Collage Community!
In the ever isolating world that we all can find ourselves in, human connection is important, now more than ever. The post Covid world found us picking our phones up sometimes hundreds of times a day and although at times social media can feel like connection, it leaves us wanting more.
I have spent most of my life as a collage artist and the past 21 years as an educator so it’s honestly kind of crazy it took me this long to think this thing up!!
The Forms Most Beautiful Collage Community is a space I’m creating (both digitally and in person but just in person or now) where people can use collage in order to learn about themselves, communicate better with others and most importantly, form human connections.
Each class I create and facilitate’s sole purpose is rather than walk away with a replicable piece of art, to walk away with a sense of belonging. It’s a space for creating and sharing, questioning and discussing.
My first offering will be an in person course offered in Warwick, RI. Please see details on that below and in the booking area. The course is analogue collage rather than digital. I can’t wait to see you there!
Snag a class spot below. Spaces are limited and new classes will be updates on a rolling basis!
What happens in each class?
Each collage class is meant to be a place you can metaphorically kick off your shoes and feel like a part of a community. Classes will focus on exploration of the medium along with using the medium as a means to communicate pieces of ourselves.
What will the first class focus on?
My collage journey began as a teen collaging my mixed tape covers. In honor of my beginnings the “Mixed Tape” course will be a brief explanation of some design principles and elements along with an exploration of song through collage. Students will collaborate and critique as well as share their own favorite or meaningful song through a collage piece.
What art supplies do I need to bring for the class?
In Person Course:
All necessary supplies will be provided to you. This includes Bristol board, glue sticks, scissors, magazines, miscellaneous ephemera, a class cutting mat and more precise cutting tools (shared).
Collage is only as good as the ephemera that makes it up. In that spirit, please bring some! Old magazines, newspapers, photos, lace, vintage papers, dress patterns, envelopes (with the windows) are just a few ideas!
In addition, the course is taking place at “Cork and Brew” in Pawtucket Village in Warwick. Feel free to buy a bottle of wine and enjoy it with friends during the class! Food is not provided, but can be brought in.
